I just had to post one of my favorite recipes for the holidays
Sugar and Walnut Glazed Brie

1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup chopped macadamia nuts or pecans
1 tablespoon brandy
1 (14-ounce) round brie
Apple wedges, for serving
Pear wedges, for serving
2 to 3 tablespoons lemon juice
Crackers, for serving

In a small bowl stir together the sugar, nuts, and brandy. Cover and chill for at least 24 hours or up to 1 week.
Preheat oven to 500 degrees F.

Place the brie on an ovenproof platter or pie plate. Bake for 4 or 5 minutes or until the brie is slightly softened. Spread the sugar mixture in an even layer on top of the warm brie and bake for 2 to 3 minutes longer, or until the sugar melts. Brush the fruit wedges with lemon juice and arrange them around 1 side of the brie. Place crackers around the other side.
This was a Paula Dean Recipe and oh, my goodness, it will bring you lots of praise. Can you post your favorite holiday recipes?

my son requires me to make this every year. I use broccoli and cauliflower, the carrots tend to get mushy.

Swiss Medley Vegetable CasseroleMakes: 4 to 6 Servings Total Time: 1 hr
Ingredients:
1 bag frozen mixed vegetables (broccoli, carrots, cauliflower)
1 (10 3/4 oz.) can mushroom soup
1 cup grated Swiss cheese
1/2 cup sour cream
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 (4 oz.) jar drained, chopped pimento
1 cup canned French fried onions
Preparation Combine vegetables, soup, 1/2 cup cheese, sour cream, pepper, pimento, 1/2 French fried onions. Pour into greased 1 quart casserole dish. Bake, covered, 30 minutes at 300 degrees. Top with remaining cheese and onions and bake, uncovered, five more minutes.

What a great thread. I am not home right now but will go through my recipes and see what I can post. I will be watching this one as I am now shopping and stocking up for the holidays. I also love Paula Deans recipes. Her deserts are to die for and some of the recipes are so easy. Look up Paula Deans "Gooey Butter Cake". This one is so yummy and so easy. She also has a great recipe for Mississippi Mud cake. Again really easy. Both of these start with a cake mix.

Here is another ..over the top...recipe and it is also very easy.

Toffy Candy
one pound of butter
one pound of your fav. nuts
2 cups of sugar
one package of Hershey candy bars (six pack)
1/4 cup of water.
Spread a couple cups of your favorite nuts over an ungreased cookie sheet.
Boil the above ingredients until your candy therm. reaches 310! Pour over nuts and let harden..it will harden up while cooling.
Melt the Hershey bars over a double boiler and pour over the "cooled" nut mixture. Let it all cool and set up completely before breaking into pieces. The hardness will be like a toffee bar. These are good without the chocolate bars, too. Or you can use white chocolate, whatever your fancy. I cannot tell you how these are.

Are we talking Thanksgiving holiday, Christmas, or anything in between? I have to say that I have had the Gooey Butter Cake and it is AWSOME! But it is very rich. One batch will go a long way!

I did once come across a toffee recipe before, but have never made one. But I want to ask which ingredients do you mean to boil to the candy thermometer 310degree? You mean the butter, sugar & water? I thought brown sugar would be used... so you mean white sugar right? Sorry I'm a baker & cook that easily flubs up a recipe

so I just wanna make sure I understand.

ask away, no problem. sorry I wasn't more specific as I should have been with the recipe.
Boil the butter, white sugar and water together until they reach 310`. put the nuts on the bottom of the cookie sheet and when candy reaches temp pour over the nuts. Yes, you can toast the nuts if you prefer. Cool then pour the melted chocolate bars over the top and let set/cool. You ask me anything as I tend to think folks can read my mind.
