Mine were incubator babies! They did just fine. I really did not know they were Serama at the time, and they are mixed: bantam Serama daddy with bantam Brown Partridge Cochin.

Sparrow: White (chocolate-chipped) mix x Brown Partridge Cochin bantam hen (of the twins, her brown sits a shade darker and covers spottingly on her sides) Hawksy Roxie: White (chocolate-chipped) mix bantam x Brown Partridge Cochin bantam hen

Hawksy Roxie adores the egg bucket and always runs to greet me when she sees me coming with it in tow:

I don't know if the mix has anything to do with the ease of hatching them in the incubator or not. Shrug.
:D

It may be hard for an egg to turn into a bird: it would be a jolly sight harder for it to learn to fly while remaining an egg. We are like eggs at present. And you cannot go on indefinitely being just an ordinary, decent egg. We must be hatched or go bad.
