My breeding pens

very nice set up! great idea to space the two hoop coops far enough apart to be able to just cover the top and close the ends to give another pen! excellent planning indeed!

I know this is an older thread, but just in case you never got your answer those are American Games. The gamecock is a Gray of some sort, and the hen looks like a Roundhead.

I just wanted to update on this....I felt it was a great idea, too.....but.

The pens are only 4 feet apart. It's big enough for the birds, but it's not wide enough to turn with a pitchfork when cleaning. I didn't think of that until recently when I was cleaning out some bedding. I do a deep bedding, so I don't clean it out that often. It's not that big a deal, just narrow enough to be a pain. If I do this design again I'll space the outer pens farther apart, at least 6 feet.
