why don't people like poached eggs?

A poached egg is basically a boiled egg but you cook it without the shell on. It tastes the same and you don't have to peel it. I am wondering why hardly anyone seems to do this? Is it because the eggs don't stay perfectly round? Have people just never heard of it?

Curiously waiting your responses...

Me too! I never boil them. It just seems strange people go through all the trouble of boiling the perfect egg and peeling when you could get the same result without all that. Maybe people do make poached eggs frequently and I just am not hearing about it.

We like our eggs poached, boiled, scrambled, fried, whatever! Ok, I draw the line at raw...I don't do raw eggs, everyone has their limits.

Maybe people have trouble poaching an egg without breaking the yolk or they don't care for a runny yolk on their plate.

I think poached makes a nice change from the other ways of preparing eggs, and that runny yolk is good for dunking toast in!

One of our newest breakfast "inventions" has been dicing potatoes into little cubes, fry them up with some onion and a bit of diced ham. Spoon that hash into a bowl and top with a poached egg. Ahh, so good and creamy. Makes a fantastic breakfast!

yum! I will be trying this tomorrow :) :)

Love poached eggs. I think many people may be put off by the runny yolk, or can't time them correctly, or don't know to keep them warm to serve. Also, perhaps because poached are trickier to prepare and eat in the car, our fast-food nation has grown accustomed to other forms, like the mcmuffin puck. If your mom didn't serve them, they may not be part of your eating culture.

Okay, that's a strange coincidence, my family just started doing the exact same thing! It's really good, isn't it?

Yep, one of our favorite breakfasts (we're actually having it tomorrow, DH promised, he's the head chef around here). We started making the breakfast hash when it was time to dig up all the potatoes in the garden. Sometimes you have to get creative with extra produce the same as with extra eggs.

THIS. My best buddy loves 2 eggs poached in milk served over buttered toast. He likes the toast cut into bite sized cubes before pouring the eggs & milk over it. He grew up knowing this as 'Adam & Eve On A Raft". It sound delicious but those whites have to be firm for my stomach. )-;
