I know . . . this sounds like a good problem to have.

But, I have 2 golden comets who just started laying daily this past week. They have occasionally layed an egg with a membrane only or very soft shell; but some days I am getting 3 eggs/day from the 2 of them. The 3rd egg has only a membrane.

I know their bodies are adjusting to this new function, but I am concerned that it is taking a lot out of them to lay 2 eggs in less than 12 hours.

They are on layer pellets and they free range so get extra protein. I have free offer calcium, but they don't seem to eat much of it. Any other suggestions for additional calcium in their diet?

I do have some organic plain yogurt and thought I might mix it into their pellets -- not sure if they will like it or not.

I'll just copy what I just posted on your other thread on this matter -

What you are experiencing is not related to lack of calcium or an indication of a need to increase their calcium intake. The fact that the third egg is arriving in this sort of time frame and without an outer shell is simply an indication that it is not receiving the benefit of the necessary time in the uterus where it would be coated by the shell gland. With time their systems will regulate and you will see the sequence and completeness of the eggs produced level out.
