Why have my hens suddenly quit laying - Page 3

My hens all but quit laying this summer and haven't been the same since. I was getting 3-4 eggs a day from 4 hens now I get 1 every other day. Easter egger quit laying altogether. I had a broody hen to start with and she finally got back to somewhat normal then easter egger went broody. Both are no longer broody but sleep in nest boxes and don't roost with the rooster and other 2 hens. Then some molting started by a few of them. Plenty of food and water. They free range often but not all the time. Out of answers.

At this time of year, production problems are most likely the result of molting and less daylight.

I only have 4 chickens.

My Welsummer, who is about 8 months old, started a molt about 2 weeks ago (not a severe one, probably because it is her first year?) and abruptly stopped laying.

She's fine, otherwise, so I am chalking it up to the season.

I'm working on giving them supplemental protein a few times per week (fish, scrambled eggs, etc.).

I have 2 hens that became broody at the same time . I dont  have a rooster , so I went to a friend of mine and got 4 fertilized eggs . Both hens sat but only one chick hatched . They both claim the chick . My problem is that its been 4 weeks, and the hens never went back to laying . Any advice ???????????

 Thanks

They won't start laying until they have been finished with 'mothering' for at least a few weeks. It takes time for those hormones to clear their systems.
