I have 6 Buff Oingtons and have really enjoyed this new hobby! I had no idea having chickens could be so much fun! I look forward to hearing and learning new ideas about having chickens!

Hi :welcome

Glad you could join the flock! That's great to hear you are enjoying your new hobby :celebrate
Keeping chickens really is a fun and very rewarding hobby. I just love the chicken TV!! Watching them going about their chicken business certainly brings a smile to my face. Have you checked out the learning centre? Lots of great articles, here is the link ~ https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center

Be sure to ask any questions that you may have, everyone here to help and very friendly.

Enjoy BYC and all the chicken chat :frow

Yes, chickens are so much fun to keep! They really do give you a reason to get out of bed in the morning.

Make yourself at home here and we do welcome you to our flock!

I have 6 Orpingtons that are wonderful! But, this spring I would like to add 4 more to the flock. I live in Iowa where winters can get cold. I want some good egg layers but would like for them to be friendly. Any suggestions?

Welcome! Sorry I am a newbie so I am curious about breeds too. My Lavender Orpingtons are my friendliest, my RIR are aloof, my buff/EE are in the middle, and my Barred rocks are curious but not as friendly as my lavs.
