We have a three year old new Hampshire bantam 'Molly' who over the last week has become very quiet. She now sits at the back of the nest (not in a nest), in the darkness all day. I don't think she's broody. We tried to take her out to get some fresh air and sun but after 5 mins she made her way back into the nesting area and sat back down. I'm getting worried - she stopping laying quite a few weeks ago when she became poorly, then got better but then seems to have got works. Over the last few days we have been feeding you food and water by syringe, however offer her sweetcorn and she acts like a wild animal and eats the lot frantically. We have also been bathing her in warm water incase she is eggbound, although I can't feel anything inside her and she is getting quite skinny.

Could she have Coccidiosis or has anyone got any other ideas? Thanks in advance!

She could have mites, worms, or coccidia. Also, it could be possible that she is being bullied and hiding because of that.

Are there any symptoms of respiratory infection?

Can you take her poo into a vet for a fecal test? Ask them to look for excessive coccidia but at her age, that would be rare. Ask for a gram stain test that checks for bacteria and have them look for worms.

What does her poo look like?
keep hand feeding. She needs to eat/drink 10% of her body weight everyday.

Keep us posted

Awesome!
