I agree. Same goes for the eggs.

I agree a person does not do this for the money. However when I figure that my neighbor was selling processes meat birds for $10 a piece (frankly I think a person could charge 15 and you would still have people pounding down your door) My cost per bird so far is not too bad.
As long as you do not include the cost of the coop

or the cost of feeding the parent stock over winter.

Summer chickens are cheap. open the door and let them go find food...Winter not so much...

That is true, I have not had that cost yet. But I just call them layers and count it against my eggs . Those things are not cheap.

LOL another place I lose money! There is no way I can produce eggs for what I sell them for.
