Good evening!
I am purchasing quail next week and had a quick question. I constructed a 6ftx2ft enclosure for my quail. It is a hybrid between a tractor and a standalone (like a tractor, but about 6 inches from the ground and they will be on wire/dirt bath/etc.)

Anyway, I am wanting to have a comfortable amount in there. Could I do 2 males and 10 females? Do I need to split it in half and do 2 sets of 1:5 ratio? I'd prefer not to do this as I have roofing on one half, and openness on the other. Could I do 1 male to 8-10 female? What are the downsides?
I want to thank anyone/everyone in advance for the help. I truly appreciate it.

You may get by putting them all together but there is down sides. There is favorite girls & not so favorite. So some would be breed by both males while others would be at all. They may not fight but they probably would. Of one got injured they would all gang up on it so it wouldn't have a chance.

If you tried 10:1 likely some of them wouldn't get breed. But you might end up with a male active enough to do it.
