i am curious as to how people know where their chicks will externally pip. Do they always do this in the same spot unless of a malpositioned chick? I am hatching my first time and am at lockdown. However I am having a very hard time being patient. I would love to know where to watch for them to externally pip. They have been rocking and rolling now for 2 days but I haven't seen any external pips. Should I be concerned. Today is just day 18 with bantam chicks. I am super excited. :D

Don't worry they will pip. You will be able to tell when you see it. Day 18 is a little early to be looking but good luck

Thanks for the reply. I am curious as to weather they will all pip in the same place or is it different for every chick? I couldn't agree with you more about being to early also. I am also curious as to weather your humidity can be too high during lockdown and hatching? I also believe that my air sacs are too big. Can I do anything about it now or is it too late?

It's normally different for every chick. I have some bantams in the incubator right now that just started to pip on day 21! What kind of incubator do you have? Is it still or forced air?

Well it was a little giant 9300 but I read on here somewhere that you could take a laptop fan and make the incubated an air forces incubator. So I did. I thought that they were better from the posts that I am just figuring out how to read lol. I started them at 101.5 and since I put the fan in it is now running at 99.5. Can you have the humidify too high at hatch time? I am so worried. I have one that has made a hole directly in the middle of the egg when I woke up this am. But I don't think this one has even internally pipped yet. Should I be concerned? Sorry this is my first time hatching chicken eggs. However I have hatched house sparrows before.

99.5 is a good temp. Humidity should be around 65-70percent. The chick will probably be fine they know what to do so let it do its thing. It should take a while for him to hatch. Make sure to also keep the chick in the incubator after he hatches until he's fluffed up. And try not to open the incubator to much to keep humidity and temp stable.
