My chicks acting differently?

My chicks are about 1 month old and usually when I come outside they are jumping all around in their cage to see me so I can let them play in the grass. Today, I went to see them so I can give them food, which they did not eat, and they also weren't really excited about going out. When I tried to catch them they let me but then after that they ran away which I'm glad about because that's how they usually are. My sister, who has no experience with chicks, fed them meal-worms at night, like about some handfuls of them, and they went nuts over them. Did the meal-worms cause this or...? I don't really know another reason for this. Help?

Has there been a temperature change? Could a predator have frightened them at night? Do they have enough water?

Meal worms can cause a blockage, though they aren't bad for chickens, they simply aren't that nutritious and are hard to digest. Offer liquidy foods like watermelon or apple to help them pass the mealworms outer-shell.

Best of luck!

Thank you so much! I'm pretty sure an animal frightened them because they are back to normal jumping and playing around. :) but I will give them watermelon or apple to help them with the mealworms. Thanks again!
