Soft Shell eggs????

Same here! They peck at it a little but not alot. I just bought a smaller bag of feed, their starter/grower. I think going to pick up a bag of layer feed and mix it. I was determined to leave them on regular feed till they were all laying. But thinking it's time to mix. I don't want to change them suddenly. Tomorrow I think I am going to scramble an egg with crushed shells in it and take Mimi put and get her to eat it. Maybe I will get a hard shell one from her. Lol

I started mine on laying pellets today. Will see how that works. I had quite a bit of starter/grower left so I just mixed it all together.

I had a ROR that I gave 10 months to lay an egg that didn't either have a soft (rounded) egg or was shell-less (she started off fine for a year)....tried EVERYTHING, even fermenting feed! Finally had to cull her (totally sad cause she was a great layer and sweet) because the other girls were stalking her when she'd go in to lay...ate or pecked her eggs...give it some time...try everything...but...farmings tough and sometimes you have to sacrifice one to save the whole flock from developing bad habits!!!

My RIR has been laying a double yolk in the mornings in her nest and two soft shell eggs in the evening out in the yard. Once, two soft shell eggs came out a minute apart. Yesterday, she layed her hard shell in the nest and only one soft shell toward evening, the other came after she was on the roost at night. I hope this stops cause I'm worried about her health. This couldn't be good for her. She's the only one doing this too. They get oyster shells alone and sometimes I've mixed it into their feed to make sure they are eating it. They are all feed well. It's crazy how she knows if it's going to be a hard shell (she goes to nest) or soft shell (somewhere outside). Everything stays clean! I hate throwing away soft shell eggs, should I eat them? I'll be looking into that today
