In the Brooder

i have a group of six turkey poults that are a week old now. I have had one that passed away on the third day, with no noticeable problems. I believe it may have been stress from the shipping. I had moved them in with my chicks for the first couple of days. I moved them inside and separated them from the chicks. I would keep their water and area clean. I have a heat lamp in their brooder, and they have done better with that. I have one who is gasping for air, his eyes are closed and will only open them if he is jostled, or walks a little bit. He looks sleepy, but I have Quick Chik vitamin and electrolyte supplement and have mouth fed him that with water. He seemed to be doing a little bit better before I left for work. I had my mom give him the water every three hours, and she said he was starting to walk around and eat as well. But when I got home, he is looking down again. I've gone through so many forums, sites, Google, etc. looking for possible solutions. But I don't just wanna wing it, I want to be able to help him in any way I can. I know he may just not be able to fight it and accept that he may end up dying, but I want to at least try everything I can. I can't give up on him yet. i have him right outside the brooder, separated from the others just in case whatever illness he may have, might be passed on to the others. Please help! Any suggestions? I don't want to give him any antibiotics or anything like that, but I'm desperate. If it means he will live, I will do it. Please help me help this little guy. ):

Sorry it took so long to respond.

How's he doing?

Separate your sick poult from the others, as he sounds very sick. Keep him extra warm, hydrated, and keep up the vitamins and electrolytes. You could try getting him treated for coccidia, as that may be weakening him.

Best of luck!

He passed away very early this morning, but everything seemed fine. He was still pooping regularly and kept giving him the electrolyte water. I guess he just couldn't keep fighting anymore:( poor little guy, but I'm thinking it could've been shipping stress seeing as they was nothing else noticeably wrong. I even swabbed his throat to check for worms or parasites but they weren't any. I just hope my other little ones will make it!
