My neighbor’s dog is tearing my coop apart.

I use a single strand of electric fencing around the base of the fence about 6 inches off the ground and about that far away. I have ducks that are loose and the fence is primarily to contain my hogs and to give me peace of mind as people frequently abandon dogs on our dead end street. We use flockshock brand which is relatively inexpensive. The ducks go in and out of the hogs area as they like to play in the mud (go figure, they have their pond). Rarely the birds do get shocked but it doesn't seem to bother them.

I've included a picture so you can see how low the fence is and how well they keep in even hogs.

So here's an update: i bought an electric fence kit and i am going to be putting it up tonight when i get off work. they have been kenneling Gizmo until i can get it up, but due to some family issues i wasn't able to get it up this weekend. Ill let you know if it works!

The electric fence worked great for my Doberman. She was only shocked one time and now stays in her area. We didn't have to dig. The one we got does a radius that we set. It keeps her safely in our yard and away from our chickens.

I'm sure it will be a great thing. Labs are smart in some (ahem) ways, but they generally respect electric fence!
