4H turkeys?

I just signed my girls up for 4H and they want to start with turkeys -more specifically royal palm Toms. Good idea/breed? Any suggestions? I'm turning in their paperwork on Monday and need to know what I'm getting myself in to or get out off before it's too late haha
 
Heritage turkeys are amazing, fun, and sure to teach them. Royal Palms are gorgeous and can be acquired from many breeders and hatcheries. I hear Midget Whites are great because they are very meatie but also smaller then most other breeds and can become very tame and easy to work with.

Turkeys aren't allowed at some shows this year because of the bird flu. Just thought I'd let you know.
