That is my best description of this co-worker. It has gotten to the point I am getting ready to say some nasty things to him.

We have been explaining things to him for a long time but it is like it goes in one ear and out the other. The store manager has told us to keep him off the tills because of his screw ups.

He did a big screw up last night and I explained what he had to do again. Blank look on his face.

Have explained the close down procedure to him numerous times. Asked him to shut the lights off. He asked where the light switch was for the main lights. Told him the cooler lights. He goes oh right. Customer about fell down laughing.

Just about everyone at the store has explained things to him but he is just not getting it.

How do you deal with someone like this? A few mistakes are fine but doing mistakes and messes all the time are driving us nuts!

Learning difficulty runs in my family, from autism to ADHD and asperger's. Is it just possible that this co-worker has a mental disability or has bad anxiety? Working a job would be really difficult for some of the people I know, even for me myself. Bad anxiety can make you look like you don't know what your doing, just because you are so afraid you'll do something wrong. I have bad anxiety and I know a LOT of people with it. Its becoming more common, to the point where I have trouble finding people who don't suffer from its. Its an epidemic, and it really does cause a lot of problems and stress, just because there is something slightly wrong with how the brain is wired.

I hope this helps.

Wondering if he has OCD. Took him 3 hours to stock the potato chips. I asked him to do the dairy section. He was reading every single label on every bag of cheese. Not just looking for the date but reading every label. They were all the same.

Wondering if giving him a note book would help.

He was standing at the till on Saturday and there was a spill on the floor in front of this till and he did nothing to clean it up until I told him to clean it up. He looked at me and asked where and the store manager was coming up at that time and she told right in front of you on the floor.
A customer could have slipped and fallen on this spill. He told me I could tell he doesn't do much cleaning.

I'm wondering why he was hired for a job it is obvious he is failing at. The big match up mistake is making him more anxious than he needs to be. He really needs a good evaluation so he can be placed in a work situation he will be good at and gain confidence.
