Silkie laying daily

I was just wondering if it's normal for a silkie to lay an egg a day? I have 14 girls all different breeds 7 of which are 21 weeks. For the last 18 days someone has been laying an egg a day (only missed one day). At first I thought it was one of my golden comets or the Rhode Island red, but today I caught my silkie Jasmin in the act. Is this typical or healthy of silkies?

Silkies are generally not great layers - 3, maybe 4 a week. An egg a day is very unusual for sure, but I have one that pretty much lays every day too. Their eggs are much smaller than a LF's so, you should be able to tell if they are hers if she's your only bantam.

She is my only bantam (other than my other silkie) Her eggs are small, but as I'm new to chickens I wasn't sure if all chickens laid small eggs to start. Here's a picture of her eggs next to a grocery store one.

Size looks about right! The woman I bought my egg laying silkie from doesn't believe me, but she is most definitely a very productive hen. I also have one that pretty much doesn't lay at all...

My silkie that's been laying looks different than my other silkie. Right before she started laying she got plumper and her hips seem to be wider with a more pronounced waddle (like a penguin) when she walks. My other silkie is much thinner.

Hmmm...I don't know what that means, or if it's significant or not. I can't say that about the one I have that pops an egg out almost daily. As long as she's acting normal and there's no chance she's egg bound, it's probably just her, but like I said, I really don't know. I've read that Silkies can run a bit thin. That seems to be true in my experience. Fat is not good either - they can get fatty liver disease and other problems, and apparently fat hens don't lay.

My hatchery silkie lays about 6 days a week for the last few months. It's a bummer, I got her to go broody and raise chicks---so far, zero interest
