Please help. My roo appears to be very weak. Last week he looked great. Very lethargic right now. His tail is flopping to side and has bubbly diadiarrdiarrhea as well. Whats changed this week: we put velcro on to help with coca doodling and changed from water bucket to nipple waterers. I have removed velcro (it was on for full week, so nothing sudden) and I have him by a water bucket now. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I am very sorry you are going through this but this is usually a sign of hearth failure. It is nothing you did or have done and is a problem that seems to plague roosters more than hens. In all my experience with this (I've lost 2 from it) the best thing to do is keep them comfortable until they pass or put them down humanely.

I've seen purple combs in a couple of mine, but never knew what it was. Runny poo makes me think coccidia, worms or bacteria. Would be helpful to see a poop picture.

runny, green poo can be caused by a bird who is only ingesting water or not ingesting anything at all and it can be a sign of dehydration. Combs can turn purple from pneumonia but it's generally a all over maroon color with that. The ends turning purple or black and it gradually going lower indicates organ failure, usually the heart.

If the bird just had the tips turning purple but was otherwise acting OK, I would say dehydration as I have seen this before.

Purple and black indicate a lack of oxygen and blood flow to an area.

I've seen the purple comb in some of mine that were sick. Since I had no Idea what it was I treated them using the shotgun approach, which was treat for worms, coccidia and bacteria along with supportive care, which includes correcting hydration, then tubing food.

Don't get me wrong, not saying it isn't heart/lung related, just that it could be something else. A poo picture would be really helpful. Marek's can also cause their combs to turn purple.

Here is the poo. We are currently syringe feeding applesauce and water with electrolytes and some antibiotics (oxytetracycline)
