Where did the veins in egg go?!

This is day 8, the blob moves when the egg is rotated. I am thinking it may be a quitter. Not sure though.

When it doubt, leave it in awhile longer! ;) Looks like a quitter to me as well (especially if you are still not seeing any blood vessels), but it will not rot and explode in only a few days' time, so I would just put it back in and check again in 3 days to see how it looks. I'm almost positive it has died, but I always err on the side of caution with eggs.

Yes definitely give it a few days. Pekin eggs look different to other duck eggs, mine looked a lot like quitters but I got a hatch out of a 'maybe' egg that I almost threw out. I don't often see clear veins in my pekin girls eggs either, they are very confusing eggs for sure!

Yeah, that unfortunately doesn't look promising. You can give it a couple more days, but make sure you check it in a couple of days if not again tomorrow. Eggs with embryos that have died can start to go bad very quickly in the heat and humidity of an incubator, but two more days isn't going to hurt anything.

I am not sure if it would make a difference but I realized I forgot to mention this is a Jumbo Pekin egg. Do you think that would make a difference? Some people had said the air sac looked a little too big, could that be because it is a Jumbo Pekin??

I don't know anything about Jumbo Pekins specifically, but the air cell size is measured relative to the size of the egg itself. I think that air cell looks a little large for a one week egg, but not alarmingly so if everything else were okay. Something like that can be as simple as an indication that your incubator humidity is a little low. Have you been monitoring that? Sorry if you've already answered that and I missed it.

This egg is much larger then the other so I'm not sure if the air sac is okay for its size but it definitely looks too large for only a week old egg. I have been using a little giant 9300 I believe it is, the humidity has been steady at 50%. I bought a hygrometer and in certain areas of the incubator it says 70%. So I have been trying my best to get it at a good place. The egg had great development including some veins and now it's just the dark blob and the air sac so it could possibly have something to do with my humidity. My temp on the incubator and my temp on my other thermometers are matching up perfectly.

Yes, that's a larger air cell than I'd expect to see with an RH of 50%.

I am having this same issue, but my egg is on day 16 and I saw slight movement and veins only a few days ago, and now there’s a little black blob and the veins seem weaker 😩
