Fecal testing

That's what I would give!

How about worming in feed/ question last year a member gave me directions for using safe guard in their feed 1/4 cup safe guard to 1/4 cup water and I mixed this into 4lb of feed because that is what my flock ate in a day and I did this for 5 days. Do you think this is a good way of worming Kathy This was my fall worming since I wormed everyone geese and ducks included

This way can work if you know how much your flock weighs and if each bird will eat the medicated feed.

Each birds ate the medicated feed but I didn't weigh them all and get a collective weight on them So using the syringe for geese and ducks is the same as worming chickens? I just cannot image trying to worm my geese this way.

Geese would be more difficult to worm orally because they're bigger, stronger and need more medication.

For worming in the feed one doesn't need an really accurate weight, just a guess based on what an average weight for the breed would be fine. For example, if I had 20 Muscovy drakes I would assume that all of them weighed ~12 pounds each, so the formula to calculate the daily Safeguard dose looks like this:

20 x 12 / 2.2 x 50 / 100 = 54.54 , so I would use 55-60ml per day.

Thanks Kathy.

I just wanted to give an update Rocky is totally back to normal and will not shut up. EVER! That duck is just a quacking machine. She is going through a hard molt and looks so bad. She has also grain weight and it up to 3 lbs 5 oz as of a few days ago. I'll keep weighing her for the next couple of weeks. Skye is also doing well and I haven't gotten to weighing her again but she is still laying and acting normal.

Awesome! Go Rocky. Your post inspired me to get a baby scale and weigh my entire flock for a base line. I had weighed them all as babies but when they grew up they were too heavy for my food scale and too light for my people scale so only the ones that went to the vet ever got weighed. And there were some surprises there. My biggest runner, Mystique, actually weighs more than my Rouen Drake!!!!

Yay, great news. That pot dwelling WH Skye is so cute. And I love how Rocky quacks. She just a duck gurl. With webs.

I wanted to get a fecal float test done on my chicken but my regular vet refuses, even though we take five other animals there regularly. I'm having a really hard time getting any help for my chicken. Any other ideas?
