Hi, I have 4 cross-breed chicks that came from a silver laced cochin bantam hen and a speckled sussex rooster. They are all 3 months/12 weeks old. I just really hope that they are not all roosters... I don't know what I'm going to do if that's the case!!

It would be great if anyone could help me out!

Thanks!!!

First chick: had the longest wing feathers when it was less than a week old, is slightly bigger than the rest, has red waddles, and has been puffing out its neck feathers when others challenge it

Second chick: often seen it fighting with the first chick, but has a more relaxed personality... it likes to rest on my arm, seems the friendliest towards me, and almost always is the first to run out of the coop when I come near

Third chick: had shorter wing feathers when it was younger, has a long, upwards pointing tail, and has colorful feather pattern

Fourth chick: again had short wing feathers when it was less than a week old and is strikingly colored, but its tail is still growing

All of them together :) Any help is much appreciated!!!

I know you quoted Michael OShay but for me the tell tale signs of pullets at that age are the comb development and the lack of any saddle or hackle feathers coming in. Since yours have cochin in them it is harder to see the feathering differences at this age but the combs are a dead giveaway with cochins and mixes of cochins.

If they were cockerels, by 12 weeks their combs and wattles would be larger and redder. Pullets combs do not redden up until shortly before they begin laying.

I know you quoted Michael OShay . . . the combs are a dead giveaway with cochins and mixes of cochins.
LOL! Obviously we were posting at the same time. Great minds think alike.)
