if you click on where to enlarge the picture of it looks like a fine dugout for homesteading ..
better than most had.. because of the building that was added on that wasn't a dug out..

Terrific photo! That 'added on' bit was the staircase enclosed in a roof, so you didn't have to dig yourself out (or get stuck inside it).

While it's an interesting concept....I'd rather not have the bugs coming through the dirt floors....but that's me. Plank 'em and we'll talk!

The "earth house" people should really look further into this. We've been doing it all along!
