Northwest Ohio - The Buckeye State!
In my eyes, this stunning breed has not gotten nearly enough attention. So many are astounded by their beauty and grace, and I count myself in this number. This will be a thread where owners can show off their gorgeous birds and discuss all things Hamburg.

Here is my own SSH pullet, Avalon, who is my pride and joy.

Oops, I'm so sorry I haven't posted pictures yet! I have so many threads to respond to, so I promise I wasn't intending to be rude.

Anyway, here are a few more pictures of Avalon.

She was hatched with crooked toes, so she's not show quality; but that's not what I have my girls (and boys, a drake and a cockerel) for. Avalon's perfect the way she is.

After a bath....hers went better.

Such a pretty little girl. You should consider getting an SSH to add ornamental value to your flock!

Beautiful! I only "called" you to make sure that this thread did not get "buried" under other threads- the same thing has happened to me many times!

How is Avalon for friendlness and personality? that is my favorite trait in a chicken; as probably you know by my endless posts about Bubbles; but I would be willing to make an exeption if the chicken was that pretty!

That was very nice of you. Thanks!

True to the Hamburg breed, Avalon tends to be a little flighty and nervous at times. She was the sweetest chick in the world, but I guess her blood kicked in when she got older. I'm with you that personality is a priority to me, and most of my birds are obnoxiously friendly. They just feel right at home to get in my face at any given time!

But you know, as long as most of the chickens are loveable, I don't mind having a few unfriendly ones that serve as "eye candy".

What I really want is a Golden Spangled Hamburg and a Citron Spangled Hamburg....when something is that beautiful, you want every color type!

You're right, sweet chicks are a treasure to be cherished.

Yes, my chickens are WAY too friendly!

Baby, my BR, cocks her head in that fashion because she only has one eye. It's pretty cute, though! Whoops, this was supposed to be a Hamburg thread, wasn't it?
