Hi everyone! My family and I are new to having chicken and I am not sure whether I need to be concerned or if my hens are molting. We have seven chickens, no roosters, and the hens all seem to get along really well. They are free range chickens, and all seem to be healthy. However, we noticed yesterday that two of the hens (one is a Plymouth Rock, other a Rhode Island Red) are missing feathers on their lower back, close to thei tails. The patch is dry and scaley looking. They are both rolling in the dirt, as well. We feed the "Nature's Best Organic Feed, egg layer pellets"
How can I tell if the are just molting or if this is a more serious issue. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
