I'd love to have a hatching buddy?

Well, 2 chicks from 6 eggs from the incubator. My first time using an incubator, so obviously have a lot to learn.

Had a broody sitting on two eggs, one has hatched. Just waiting to see what the final egg will do.

So, 7 or 8 chicks hatched total from my 2 broodies and the incubator.

I just set 8 frizzle eggs today. I am nursing a chick that's abdomen didn't close and she is fighting like he** to stay alive. Please say a prayer for her. I think she is determined to be here! We are calling her "Baby"!

No I am sorry to say she lost the fight and I have had a really hard time forgetting about her. She was definitely a fighter. Then I lost 2 more the following day. One from asperating water some how and the other one was suffocated by her brothers and sisters. :(

I have 8 frizzle eggs in the bator at the moment. 2 more weeks til hatch. I know at least 1 is infertile and I am questioning 2 others but really good movement in 5 of the 8. Not taking the questionable ones out til I am sure they aren't developing as with the last hatch I had a slow developer (the baby with the abdomen on the outside) and I earned- candle thouroughly FIRST before opening the egg. One was definately dead and the other was baby that fought to be here and then I lost her suddenly. She has been a tough one to forget. I was so sad when I lost her. They say it gets easier with each loss- I disagree- I think it gets harder with each loss. Especially the babies!

I set ten eggs yesterday under my super-hatching dominant hen. This will be her third brood this year - she can't lay eggs for toffee, but she sure makes a top mum!
