Chicken Breed Focus - Appenzeller Spitzhauben

Pics
I live in a city and have a reasonably sized backyard, and we want to get spitzies. Any idea about whether they’ll stay close to home? After reading about how they like to wander and are flighted even with clipping, curious whether we will be able to keep them from troubling the neighbors :D

We did have sebright bantams that only flew out of the yard (which they could well do since i stopped clipping them) but just never chose to. only when they got attacked did they fly out. so i’m curious what y’all think this breed might do!
My Spitzhaubens don‘t fly. When they were allowed to free range they stayed close just like all the other breeds. I don’t see that they are much different from other breeds at all.

My Spitzhaubens grew up with fat lazy Orpingtons. They stay in the yard because the rest of the flock can’t physically leave. Our son has a Spitz that is completely bonded to him. Follows him everywhere, likes to cuddle and watch tv on couch, and flys up into his lap whenever he sits down. She also plays fetch and follows a laser like a cat.

My friend has Spitzhaubens and hers see fences as more of a suggestion. They like to visit the creek, neighbors, and even sleep in trees. I don’t think we could even touch one unless it’s inside the coop for the night.

So with a lot of human interaction and/or non-flying flock mates, a Spitzhauben can make a great backyard pet. However if you decide to raise a flock of Spitzhaubens and let them do as they please, they will probably want to explore.

Hi all!
I'm a UK breeder of Appenzeller Spitzhauben, showing and breeding all colours:
Silver Spangled
Gold Spangled
Black
Blue
White
Chamois
I have been wondering whether it would be worthwhile to begin a project trying to develop a new colour, e.g. Cuckoo, laced, buff etc.? :D
Would be willing to ship eggs of F1 and developed colours + iv also got for sale hatching eggs of all the colours above! Will add some pics.
Has anyone got any suggestions for new colours/ purchase hatching eggs??!
Thanks :cd
I'm in America. I would love to figure out how to add blue to the lines I have. I have Gold Spangled| Silver Spangled |Gold Chamois| White.

I just figured out how to add lemon and black. But can't figure out how to add blue and splash. Advice would be welcome from everyone. I'm loving this breed and want all the colors. Did you ever start your project?
