51 total chicks. :D pretty excited. I think I have most of them figured out. I was wondering if you guys could help me identify or confirm some chicks? I would be very grateful.
#1 spitzhauben?
700

#2 polish? What color? I know for sure I have some white crested black, gold laced, and silver laced. This one doesn't look like any of them.
700

#3 no idea. Lots of chipmunks with different features. This one has pretty elaborate eyeliner.
700

#4 mottled houdan? I have 5 of them. :)
700

#5 barred Cochin?
700

#6 cuckoo marans or barred rock? Leaning towards cuckoo marans because of the leg color
700

#7 bantam sized. Black beak and black legs. No idea.
700

#8 a different chipmunk. No idea lol

How fun!!! :)

Here are my guesses, based on looking through the pics in their catalog.....

#1 - Silver Spangled Hamburg
#2 - Buff Laced Polish
#3 - Hmmm...... Not sure either, LOL.
#4 - Yep, definitely Mottled Houdan!
#5 - Black Cochin (Cackle does not carry Barred full-size Cochins)
#6 - Dominique? (It looks to quite possibly have a rose comb, rather than a single comb)
#7 - Brown Red Old English Game bantam
#8 - Silver Duckwing Phoenix or Silver Duckwing Yokohama

Cackle also carries numerous varieties of standard Old English Game. Given the breed's temperament, I'd like to think Cackle wouldn't include them in an assortment like this. They're also quite expensive, I can't remember what Cackle sells them for, but it was quite expensive ($9 each for straight run?). So my chick breed guesses did not include any of their OEG varieties, but of course OEG is a possibility...... :)

Thank you for your reply. I watched the baby chick videos from Cackle on YouTube to help me figure some out. I'm pretty sure #1 is a Spitzhauben. I could be wrong though. It just doesn't look like their spangled Hamburg video. I didn't even think to watch the buff laced polish video lol Looks like I wound up with 6 polish. Cackle does sell barred Cochins. I guess only time will tell about that one. Lol #6 could def be a Dominique too! Ugghh! So many breeds look alike! I was really hoping for a cuckoo marans.

I agree except the first looks like an Appenzeler Spitzhauben and the third may be a Dark Cornish :)

Okay, now I feel stupid..... Yes, you're right, sorry. Cackle does carry Barred Cochins. I just checked my catalog, and it's dated 2011.

So your Barred Cochin guess is very likely correct.

Chick #1 does look indentical to the Spitzhauben chicks, including with the darker feet compared to the Hamburgs. For some reason in my catalog they have a very yellow/brown face, but online they look exactly like your chick.

And Rhodebar's guess of Dark Cornish for #3 is likely spot on. Dark Cornish chicks vary a LOT in color, for some reason. Your chick doesn't look like any of Cackle's pics of their Dark Cornish chicks, but check out this McMurray chick video: https://www.mcmurrayhatchery.com/dark_cornish.html Your chick looks very similar to the chick at 0:21.

#3 does kinda look like a dark Cornish. Hmmm...I guess only time will tell for sure! lol I'm even more lost for #6 The coloring also looks like a black sex link. I'll try to get a better picture of the comb in the morning. I'm pretty happy with the mix I got. My husband (who never gets excited about my chickens) is excited too and said he wanted to order a surprise box for himself! lol we do NOT need that many chickens. I told him to wait til Spring and maybe we would get some ducks and turkeys in the mix. ;)

I've been tempted a number of times to order Cackle's Surprise Special just for the fun of it. I'll be really curious to see what your male/female split will be!

Love this little fluff ball! Silver coloring...Easter Egger? Maybe a Salmon Faverolle in the back? I'll have to check it's toes in the morning. I'm just going through pictures I had taken earlier. :p

Differet chipmunk. The stripe on it's head struck me as different. Like a football shape.

I thought this was the same little black chick, but this one looks like it has some white tips growing out on the wings.

Bunch of fluff. I know I have some RIR and some Red Sex Links in there. I don't know about all the white ones and I didn't take any close ups. I know I have 2 white cochins. I've never had cochins before. The chicks are so adorable when they are walking away from me. They look like they're wearing little pants!

Any ideas on these?
#1 kinda looks like a ?silver laced Cochin? from Cackle's website. Or a dark brahma?

#2 pretty silver colored down. No idea what it is.

#3 white Cochin? The diff colored wing tips are throwing me off. :/

#4 no idea. :/ doesn't have feathered shanks.

#5 is this a jungle fowl? Sorry, didn't take a top body pic this morning.

What did the top one from that last post turn out to be? I have a banty Brahma and she looked like that when she was small, except for the markings around the eyes. I'm hoping to do a Cackle Surprise order in the spring, but I'll have no idea what anything is until it gets bigger. Even when I had my order list from my first mixed batch I couldn't tell who was who!
