Wow, these molts just look painful. It would be fun to see a "during molt" picture (like these) and an "after molt" so we can see how gorgeous these birds really are.
Here is Peter this morning. Still upset that I posted his molt pictures, LOL! He is sooo slow to get his feathers back, but he is 98% done with his molt. Looking much better anyways! :)
LOL! What fun! I knew it was a good idea to take out the camera! Normally-handsome, 5 year-old, free-range Rhode Island Red Peter was so humiliated to have his picture taken when he looked like he was ready for the soup pot! He is looking much more comely now, but this was taken on 6-20-15:
And here is Sparrow this morning. Looking fresh and perky! :)
Here's another one of my girls, Sparrow. These were taken last week:
I love how their new feathers resemble paint brushes for the first few days! They always look so pretty and fresh after going through a molt. I always forget that they also go into "seclusion" for the last 2 serious weeks of their molt! Several of my ducks are doing this feather thing right now, too, lol. I will try and get a picture of them...
@Mariejulianna thanks for the molt and after molt pictures, that was fun to see. Nice looking birds you have there! Thanks for sharing
