September 2015 Hatch-A-long!!

Are they Seramas? How old are they? I ask because I'm brooding 12 chickens in my living room right now and if about half are roos, maybe I can start finding homes for the ones we can't keep sooner rather than later. 5 are Silkies, so they'll be around for a while before I figure out who's who, but Seramas look like they are pretty easy to sex early on. My singleton is staying with us no matter what.

A few of the Silkies are definitely looking more and more boyish, but I'm hoping my inexperience with Silkies proves me wrong! We want to keep our Slimy Bob.

Mine or OEGB, sebright and silkie mixes. You can tell the little roos apart REALLY early, and I hear it works the same with seramas. My Little Dude was crowing at a week of age, when he was still up in my room in the brooder!

He looks like a rooster, but its hard to be sure until their comb and tail start growing in. However, behavior can be a good clue. Roosters tend to think highly of themselves. : )

This one does look like a rooster

Chicks from yesterday's hatch. One little yellow guy has a leg issue which I think is totally my fault...I think he hit the slick incubator floor instead of the matting at hatch and did a split.

My peahen just cracked me up so I was sharing. She hatched a few months ago!

I hope your little hatchling is okay.

And your peahen is awesome!

Thanks...he's having a rough go of it.Each day is rough.I have had him in my pocket and we do lots of leg work. It may not be enough. :(

Thanks on the peahen~

@Purpletie3

I want my own pea pair. I just cant justify that big of an investment yet.

Your peahen is beatiful.

Thanks. I bought her from BYC members egg auction. I have some more in the incubator now but the air cells were all detatched from shipment. So, crossing my fingers for just one!!!

Thats cool. The eggs are so expensive. And I would need to build a serious pea home first.
Fingers crossed that some hatch.
