laugh of the day

On the human side of things, I've had people tell me it has not been determined by science that the gender of a baby comes from the man. And that wow! Human babies are born with their eyes open! :he  Sometimes I wonder if there is any hope for the human race.

Lol! Some days I doubt it.

Have to fess up, when I started with BYC I thought you needed a rooster to have eggs. Hey, born & bred in Chicago - 'nuf sed! I asked my chicken friend and she explained it to me. However, she doesn't believe anything I tell her I learned on BYC. She is very stuck in her ways and self treats her birds with things like Alka seltzer cold relief, her hen died of gapeworms. She didn't have a cold. We have had very heated arguments over things like that. I just retreat to the BYC world.

Seems like that's a pretty common misunderstanding about the Roos and am eggs. I never thought that cause we've had chickens since I was a tiny little kid and never had a rooster til I was a teen...total farm kid here, but I'm sure I would thought the same thing had I not grown up knowing otherwise. Afterall, it's pretty strange that they do lay without a roo. I'm glad they do though, for the sake of us that can't have Roos, lol!

I never grew up with chickens, but we had a lot of pet birds. My babysitter was the local bird breeder so I got a pretty heavy education in birds before I even started kindergarten. My dad also took great pleasure in teaching me about animals and nature. If I had been a city kid I'm sure I wouldn't know even half the stuff I have rolling around in my brain.

They really need to teach more farm and nature related stuff in schools. My husband was telling me his school had agriculture courses. I have been jealous ever since. Apparently they also had a bring your tractor to school day. Meanwhile, my teachers nearly died when I would bring in snakes and insects for show and tell.

Kelfeathers that is the cutest bunny I have ever seen

Thanks! Her name is Evie. I was on the list to get a baby from her. The breeder decided to retire her in favor of a different female and asked if I'd take her off her hands. I fell in love with her blue eyes.
