Cuckoo Bluebar...

Pics
Wow....I have blue barred cockerels coming out my ears from my blue egg laying blue sex link project. But my hens are solid blue (sex linked) cause I wanted to be able to guarantee pullets.

Please keep us posted with photos, temperaments etc..
This is a great option breed on omproving egg color in Ameraucanas as a project and I'm VERY curious.

Thanks!

I just ordered some of these eggs. Do you know what they are a cross of? They have feathered beret's like my Cream Legbars. Are they a CL crossed with a Cuckoo Marans? Or other?

Thank you,

Maureen

It should be noted that the eggs are white so I'm a bit confused as to the parent stock. Olive egger on a white egg layer?

Hi,
I ordered these from My Pet Chicken and their ad says lays large sky blue eggs and they show blue eggs in the photo. Did you actually get white ones? If so, now I'm confused.

Sorry for the delay in responding - tried from my phone much earlier and it wouldn't go.
Thank you,

Maureen

I believe the idea is that they will LAY big blue eggs and the, since they themselves are a result of a cross with a white-egg laying parent, they will hatch from white eggs.

A Cream Legbar bred to a cuckoo Marans would produce a pullet that layed a green egg.

I wonder if they crossed a barred Holland rooster with Cream Legbar hens? Or maybe they used white sport Legbar hens?

If the hatching eggs are white, my guess would be a CCL rooster over barred Holland or Cali Grey hens, something like that.

It just irks me that MPC does these mixes and advertises them as breeds. One reason why I will not do business with them or Meyer.

Still very curious on how they look, and what color eggs they lay. Does this mean they won't breed true to each other? My cross genetics knowledge is limited.
