Penny - she (?) is a Buff Orpington. We had a Rhode Island Red start crowing so we had to take him back to the farm since we are not permitted to have roosters in town. Now a few days later, Penny starts crowing. What is your opinion? Is this a rooster or a hen that thinks she is a rooster? 13-14 weeks old.

I figured as much, just hoped I was wrong. This one was very motherly and allowed the smaller chicks to hide under its wings when it was younger. I guess the pecking order kept him from crowing until the others were removed from the flock. We have purchased 7 chickens and so far 4 are cockerels. This one took much longer than the others. Now to find 2 pullets locally to bring my flock back to 5.

Is she a he? We hatched this one & my son is really hoping that she's a she ;)
