Diamond dove and parakeet co-existing???

Might be back...
Hi! My sister is getting a parakeet for her birthday, and I was thinking about getting a diamond dove to keep it company. Is this okay?? We were going to get a male and a female, but will they mate?? We have a big cage for them already and they would live inside. Thank you!

I wouldn't recommend a dove with a budgie....getting a male and female is absolutely fine!! They won't necessarily mate, if you don't provide a nest box then she won't get the idea of mating.
