I have one set of chicks that will be 4 weeks old this week, and our second set of chicks are due to hatch this coming Friday, with them being a month apart, when can I introduce them? Do I need to wait until they are 8 weeks or can I do it sooner? The 4 week olds will be moving into the coop this week with a heat lamp (getting cooler here during the day and pretty cold at night) to make room in the brooder for the new babies. I am wondering since they are all young can I introduce them sooner to each other or do I need to wait until they are 8 weeks old?

I'm assuming these are your only chicken, I would build a separation pen in the coop and move the younger ones out there for another four weeks of brooding when they reach four weeks, the older ones shouldn't need heat by then, make sure everyone can see each other, by then I think they would mostly get along when allowed together.

Should I keep the heat on the younger ones even though the older don't need it? Yes they are my only chicks but I do have ducks in the same coop, I was going to build a separation to keep the chicks and ducks separate until older.

I'm not sure where you are located but her in four weeks it will start to be cooler at night, it shouldn't hurt the older ones as long as everyone can get away from it.
