Hi could anyone help with advice?
I have a pair of geese, but two days ago a dog attacked the female. She now has a droopy right eye, and a lump above her head also on her right.
She is walking fine, eating and drinking, preening and still wanting to come outside, but I am concerned with the eye and lump.
She is now quite timid, but can't give up. Would anyone have any ideas of how I can help her. She has no cuts or evidence of the attack anywhere else.
Thankyou so much, her name is Gwyneth x

Your dog or someone elses? I hope you took care of it.... did the dog grab her on that side of her face and head? What does the lump feel like and is the eye blood shot describe? For the eye maybe make up a saline wash which is salt and warm water 1 cup to 1Tab of salt mix well and pour over her eye it will wash it out and can help heal . also there is a product called Vetraycin spray for wounds and infections TSC has it it can be safely used in the eyes. 1tab of ACV to 1 gallon of water for her to dunk her head in and also drink ACV can kill bacteria. The lump may have blood under the skin or fluid and it might go down on it's own I'd keep an eye on it maybe some salt water compress laid on the lump may help it go down . Or if you can a good Vet.

Morning, Gwyneth seems alot better thankyou. She still has a lump on her head but I am sure it is going down, and her eye lid a bit droopy still. However, she is more vocal now, eating, drinking and preening herself and looks forward to coming out every day. I called her vet, and she said that the lump could be an abscess, and said to keep an eye on her but was not overly concerned which was a relief. She can see, and her eyeball is normal. I'm so relieved as she is a lovely goose, we inherited her and him when we bought our house, the previous people left them!

So relieved to see this. That was so nice you kept the geese when the previous owners left them. I just hope that dog or any others don't come back.

The abscess may have to be drained if it doesn't go down on it's own. You could do it with a small syringe with small needle keep an eye it like the vet said.

Thanks for replying.
