A feral squab landed on my balcony a minute ago yhe yellow features are still visible on his chest i do not know how to feed him and if i asked for help fro any body in my neighborhood they would just say let him die iam on the 7 th floor so i do not have any idea from where he came last year a bigger squab died but that one i just putted him on the roof in hope his parents would see him this squab is still strong he held my hand quit strong so i wont let die just like that. I could bring a syring to feed him but of what size and what should i feed him i think he is about 3 weeks of age maybe smaller

Mix up some chick starter or other chicken food with warm water until its a paste.

Put this into a small plastic bag and then cut a hole in one corner of the bag just big enough for the pigeon to put its beak into and open its beak up a little.

Hold the bag just at head level of the squab and gently push the birds beak into the hole into the mixture.

The bird should start to gulp down the food.. pushing its head up and down into the bag.. like it does when its parents feed it.

You can mix a few grains into the mix after its feeding well.

You will know when its had enough food as it will just stop feeding... even though it may keep begging for more.

You should feel the crop is full.

Don't give any more food until the crop is nearly empty.. otherwise it will lead to problems.

At that age is will only need feeding 3 or 4 times a day. Also one feed before you go to bed and one first thing in the morning.

Don't make the paste too hot or too cold!!

Have a dish of seeds and a bowl of water with the bird all the time and before each feeding poke you fingers about in the seeds to encourage it to start eating by itself.

Good luck!! (oh.. and you could keep it out on your balcony just in case the parents come back to feed it.. just make sure it can't fall off!!

P.S. If the birds gets the food paste on its feathers.. gently wipe it off with a damp cloth... otherwise it will get the feathers all messy and sticky.

I usually feed them defrosted frozen peas when I have nothing else, open the beak gently by putting one finger on each side of the beak and pop in a pea or two, he should open up eagerly after a few feedings and start turning circles and squeeking. The other ways suggested work really well but can be messy so this is just another option if you need to feed him quickly with minimal mess (except all the scattered peas everywhere!). Pigeons have amazing personalities and are great pets, although they produce a feather dust so keeping them inside long term can be messy. Good luck!

This is one I hand raised, ready to be fed.

It survived i took her to our roof where i usuallh feed feral pigeons and stayed to see what happens her parents i think came and fed her so i left her to them
