Sept Silkie hatches (Great Hatches)

That's awesome!   These are paint chicks hatching now?    I am so happy for you!

I had that one duck egg but it didn't make it, for the best, I think.   Still tempted to do one more Silkie hatch but I've had a lot going on.

I had a great hatch! All but 1 egg hatched and it was malpositioned when I eggtopsy it. I only got 2 paint chicks! A few black and a silver one. I also got a red paint!! I'm hoping to grow these out and breed some in spring. Sorry about your duck egg but like you said, probably better then having a solo hatch! I think I might be done hatching for the year but the kids want to do quail, so bad! We'll see.

My Dad and brother were both born on the 19th too :)

Ha! Very cool. It's getting close. I used to wish my birthday would hurry up, now that I'm getting older, it's the opposite!

Well, I am glad you got a bunch of chicks, if only two paints! Do they have visible spots already?

I should probably stop hatching too, in fact all my incubators are turned off which is a real feat for me. I still have my last batch of 8 Silkies inside in my laundry room and don't really want to start over again and have to have chicks inside all winter. Silkies sure take a long time for their feathers to come in.

I am sure I should just wait for my Silkies to start laying and then in the Spring I will have a ton more babies : )

This is not a great photo, but this was their first day outside in their coop and they were just so adorable all running around out there.

They look great!! I'm going to try brooding these guys outside with the mama heating pad cave thing, starting next weekend. I don't want the dust in the house once the heat goes on too! One chick has clear spots all over (small spots) but some even on the primaries. The other didn't at hatch but has one spot now on the back of the next. Just one though. Hoping they will get more pronounced as they get older. The black chicks are very beautiful for black. Another One looks pure silver. They will be interesting to watch grow out!! Hopefully we can both curb the addiction for a few months. Then we'll both have eggs and probably Broodies!
