Hello All

Turns out we have imported fire ants

and the only thing that is known to eat them is a dang fly

i hate flys. Lol appartently the us groverment doesnt know how to get rid of them only to use poison to control them and they come back

, anyone have sucess teaching birds to eat them?
 
Our chickens won't touch a fire ant. The best thing we have found to kill them off is called Amdro. It's a granular poison you sprinkle on the mound, the ants take it down in their holes and it kills them off. But then they spring up in another spot so it's a constant chase from one spot to another. We do not use this anywhere near the chickens.

I think it was drumstick diva that mentioned the rain bringing ants out...that's very true. We've had so much rain the past 3 weeks, there are all types of ants causing us fits now.
 
We havent had rain but i water often since there near my garden they have an endless supply little butthead. Atleast this explains why the hens wont eat them.
