new chicken owner

Welcome to BYC. As a new chicken owner try to make everything as easy to care for as you can. Most people who tire of birds do so because it is just too much work. As you plan for your new flock ask questions. Birds do not have to be a lot of work. Make the coop easy to clean. Keep things simple.

Welcome to the BYC flock! We are glad you joined us!

You've come to a great place to start learning about chickens and the best place to start is right here: https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center. If you have any specific questions, don't be afraid to ask.

What should you feed chickens that are around 7 months old
Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. You should feed your 7 month old hens layer feed with some crushed oysters shells for any needed additional calcium in a side dish. There is a good article at http://www.the-chicken-chick.com/2012/11/feeding-chickens-at-different-ages.html on feeding chickens at different ages. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your flock.
