I have 2 - 5 wk old rouens and still not sure of the sex.......what if they are both males......will they get along? or be frustrated. they both have dk green bills and I can't tell by their voice, both are quiet and just peep. Now I worry if they will fight if it turns out to be 2 males. They've been together since 4 days old and seem close.

If you have two ducks - you are good.
If you have two drakes - you are good as long as you don't add any ducks. (or add at least six - depending on the drakes and the size of your yard, even more could be required to make a peaceful coexistence.)
If you have one of each - you probably need at least one more duck to prevent over breeding. This is not a certainty, but a reasonably high probability.

Long time ago, we got two Indian runner drakes by mistake. They liked each other. A lot... All they did was try to mate with each other All. Day. Long. They were unfriendly to us, and really kind of stupid. Also, I couldn't believe how messy they were! And LOUD! Keeping their pool/areas clean was impossible. Maybe they're great pets and I was just very uneducated and unprepared at the time, but I'm turned off ducks forever now I think...

thanks for the sigh of relief . I'm trying to plan ahead for the worst possibility. I thought one of each would be the worst but then wondered about the 2 males. I'm hoping for 2 females as I'm really getting attached to them and can't add any more to the group. How do folks only have one? I thought they needed a buddy.

my drakes are BFF's ;)

I guess now I'm back to worrying if its one of each . Is it possible to keep one of each and put a chastity belt on or separate them at times

If they are 5 weeks old already, you can most likely tell their sex by their voice. Females should be at least adding in some little quacks here and there by this age for sure. Can you post a video of each of them "talking"? This might help ease some of your worries.

If you only have one drake and one duck you are risking the life of the single duck. A drake will try to mate with just about anything they can get the bills on and over and over all day long. A one drake to three duck ratio is the minimum recommended. If you have only one male and one female you might try trading with someone in the same position.

If you have 2 boys then they should be fine and if you have 2 girls you should be fine. However like everyone else has pointed out if you have one of each that is where you will have problems. Do you by chance have chickens as well or just ducks?

Does this give any clues of sex? I did a video but not a peep from either of them. will try again after work, when they are good and mad at me for draining the pool. I really appreciate all the input as I'd rather part with them then to cause any harm or distress to either.
