Well we are in the process of building a chicken wagon or as some call it an egg mobile. We are really wanting to better utilize our property by fertilizing it more and growing more animals on the same space as other animals.

It was a boat trailer that was given to us, but will soon be a Chicken Wagon. We plan on housing about 50 birds in here.

Anyways couple pictures here we wanted to share. Stay tuned for more pictures.





 
If you really do want to keep 50 birds , then you may have to extend the length some. Other option is to make it quite high to increase the interior volume. .. Needless to speculate at this stage since you are still a way from your finished product. Are you planning to have the floor like a grate so all the chicken gumballs hit the ground underneath?? Then move to new area after ground becomes fertilized ? Will your chickens be confined to coop only, or will there be a run besides??? If you move coop too far from area, your chickens may be getting lost if they free range.. I know this from some bee keeper friends and their bees. Obviously if you move it just a few feet, and in same open area. chickens will find home.. I know you are making your project from what you have. I am with you there all the way.. I myself like to repurpose anything I get my hands on. This is just a question or Idea.... have you considered converting an older travel trailer camper into a coop ??? It has wheels and walls and windows and door. All need be done is gut the interior and make into chicken housing.. In my area, these units are available if you look for them.. They are old and so are not worth very much cash. Many can be had for just removing them. Some of the more healthier models can be had for a reasonable price. You have a coop in no time..

Well as I'm hoping for 50 birds. I figure they need 1 foot of roosting space per bird on each roost. If they are not roosting or laying eggs there is no need for them to even be in the Chicken Wagon.

Grate? Expanded metal is what I think you mean. This is a maybe as now we are kicking the idea of putting rabbit cages on the bottom.

Coop only? That would be an odd, but interesting contraption I may have to put some thought into. We plan on having an electric fence netting which will be moved every so often just as the Chicken Wagon will be moved.

The travel trailer / camper is a great idea, but I dont have one.
 
Just wanted to throw a little update out there. Been busy.





Rounded of the corners a bit. Sure tears up some skin and jeans with out it.





Basic frame.





These pieces of angle will hold up the roosts. We let them run wild to get an exact cut on the end.





Needed an extra hand to hold up the 20 foot stick of angle iron so I used a C clamp for help.




Here is one of the windows that will open from the side to help with air circulation and shade.
