Can anyone help identify breed. Told they were Black Rock. Thanks

Gosh really ?! We have had them 10 weeks . Think i may just take them to the vet for a health check. Thats greatly annoyed me if that is indeed true. He sold them to us as Black Rock Hens, females, "point of lay" and aged 18weeks and we have treated them accordingly to those facts. Scary. Just as well they are easy to care for and i havent jeopardised their health too much. Thanks again

Have you been feeding them layer pellets? Flocks with a rooster should not be fed layer pellets as the extra calcium will build up in his kidneys, causing his eventual death. A grower, flock raiser, or all flock is best with calcium offered separately for layers.

I will have to double check the feed tomorrow morning. My other half bought it after telling the supplier what our "hens" were, age etc. This is absolutely gutting ! Will definitely get them checked asap. Thankyou

They appear to be Wyandotte mixes. Rocks have single combs, and aren't black. There are black Wyandottes, but they should have bright yellow legs, and they aren't very common. The one on the left is definitely a cockerel, he's got long, thin male saddle feathers.
hi. you seem to know a bit about black rocks, can you tell me if they lay dark brown eggs?
