One of my silkie eggs was pipped for a long time and the membrane was drying up, so I used a qtip to wet it and accidentally broke a vessel. I cleared his beak so he can breathe but what do I now??? Please help fast!!!

The best thing you can do at this point is wait. If he's got active blood vessels, he's doing what he needs to do: wait until the vascular system is dried up. What is your humidity, and how long ago did he pip? I generally keep my humidity for hatch above 65%, and don't touch them until 24 hours after pip.

It had been 24 hours and he wasn't through the membrane, but had broken the shell above a bit more. I was worried he was getting shrink wrapped, so I tried to wet him and did more harm then help. I put a wet paper towel by him to keep the humidity high and haven't opened it since then. The bleeding has stopped and he is breathing and peepping, so I'm just watching and waiting.

I had a chick pip through a blood vessel in the early hours this morning, well It was jumping around and clambering over the eggs that still have to hatch so I just moved it to the brood box in the last hr. Its settled in well and is very alert and active. The chicks fine I just gave it plenty of time to rest n finish its hatch and made sure the bator was nice and humid.

If the shell is broken, then the membrane is too, even if you can't see it. Alot of times they will make the first pip, then rest, then expand a little, then rest again before starting the final zip. I also had one last week that busted a vessel while zipping. Scared me but it was fine.
Good luck! And please update how it goes.

He is still moving, breathing, and peeping but hasn't made any effort to hatch. He's been pipped since Friday (day 21), should I be worried? Also, my wet paper towel I put in there yesterday dried up. My incubator monitors humidity, but didn't know if I should put another in considering the circumstances.

Personally n some may shoot me down for saying this but if I were in your place, I'd quickly open the bator and put some more wet paper towel in around the egg and quickly check its ok.

It may just have a very thick shell or membrane and be having trouble breaking through it. I've had this happen a few times and eventually intervened and helped the chick complete the hatch.

The chicks I did intervene with and helped have all survived and are now perfectly healthy strong adult birds they just had exceptionally thick shells and membranes that they couldn't completely break through. I only partially helped them and only after 24 hours of nothing happening.

Hope that helps you n the little guy completes its hatch well.

Any more progress? And do you have others that are hatching ok? These are silkie chickens, correct?

If that one is over 48 hours now (?) chances are its stuck and not going to be able to rotate to zip. Either grew too big, some deformity not allowing it to rotate, or malpositioned or some issue.
Going in at this point is a big decision....
