Coop too small?

We have 10 chickens and the inside of the coop is about 28 square feet. I'm thinking I might have to give a couple away because it is too smal? I :/will cover the run with plastic to keep from filling up with snow but the many days it is -30 they will be spending all the time in the coop.

You're right. The coop is too small by about half.

I have the same issue. But I resolved the lack of coop space with increasing the size of my run. Chickens much prefer being in the run during the day rather than cooped up anyway.

In winter, I attach Coroplast panels to the sides of my run. They're very light, but rigid, and double-walled, so very good insulation, and they take wood screws without shattering, so quick and easy to put up and take down when summer comes. Better than plastic sheeting which tears and blows away in the wind.

Just got rid of 2 chickens to a friend. He had lost some when they were out of town a few days. Was getting 9 eggs a day but today had 7. Still lots for the two of us. We gave the eggs away for zero for the first couple of weeks as they were still small. Now they are a more regular size so we'll see. We bought a heated pet bowl for water for the winter so we'll see how that works.

7 eggs per day from 8 chickens sounds very good to me. Not every chicken lays eggs every single day as it normally takes about 25-26 hours for a fully developed egg to be laid.
