1st PRIZE @bantambury
this is my little dutch bantam, Enid, modeling our adorable hand-made floral vest and clothesline costume. I made the close line band out of an old headband which i covered with shredded fake leaves to look like grass. then i used some Popsicle sticks and string to make the clothes line, and i made little shirts out of fabric. the mini laundry basket just adds to her look :)

Hey everyone finished my entry not as good as I was hoping for ended up having to photograph and rangle the very irritated chicken myself. Lol. Note to self: measure the height of the chicken next time, poor Ginger was tripping over the legs. And I never did get the hat on her. These are the two best pictures of Ginger as a scarecrow. You might imagine that she wasn't thrilled. Next time I'll get help. :)

Here I have added a photo of the costume not on Ginger so the details and hat(which would have to have been glued on her head to make it stay there) can be seen.

I sewed all the items from scrap material and added the straw details myself. As can hopefully be seen from the photos I made overalls with a front pocket that has straw spilling out and a shirt with attached arms and hands. There is also straw out the bottom of the pants and the hat.

Congrats to all. What cute and clever chicken costumes:)

Thanks for the compliments. I haven't been able to be on here much. I just caught up on this thread, but the new one is going to take some time! I can't sit at my computer right now and am just using my kindle. While my family is gone to PA, I decided to restore our old saltillo file floor. I have all the furniture in a big pile that I keep having to move. All the birds, mostly parrot your birds, are outside because of the fumes. Of course it turned cold and rainy, so it's been a major juggle. I can't light a fire or cook our I might blow up. Me and the dogs and cats are camping out in one bedroom if we're not with the horses.....Should be done with this mess by Friday.
Scovy, I'm excited about you looking for land! But stay away from those bees!! And I'll let you know about the availability of more eggs. Maybe I can send you some Saturday?

You've earned every compliment received!

I'm so sorry you're having such issues with fumes Hun! Don't work too hard

Saturday will be just fine if it's not too much for you! Take it easy, I'll be happy with whenever!

Oh great Sally. Then count me in. I thought it was meant for just chickens. I love love love my quail! I'd have hundreds of them if I could:) Well maybe I exaggerate a bit here.Lol I do not name them, but I always talk to them & pet them. I have 2 little brown girls who got their eyes poked out. I feel so bad for them, and was thinking I should just process them; but they are smart little ones and have no problems finding the food, water and dust baths. So I am going to let them alone to live out their little lives. I have to tell you all that I processed my first quail only a few days ago. It is very easy to do, but omw are they ever tiny once you get those feathers plucked off them. We thought we'd have them for our family for Christmas dinner allowing 2 birds per person. Now I doubt 2 are enough and none of us are big eaters.Michael says he doesn't think our new peeps are going to be ready for processing by Christmas, so will need to change menu plans I guess. Maybe rabbit.
my issue with quail was the carnivorous nature of them, eeeekkk I was always having heads half eating off or some odd discussing issue and they had plenty of room! we dont pluck we just rip breasts out. just like doves. I hope I see you over in the other thread! @lynnhill

It looks a bit like a chicken shrine. Thank Harmony Ann for me. She is a clever girl.
ha ha ha she is gonna have a fit "I told you to tell her that the hole goes in the front!!!"
arent the salt and pep shakers neat? sucks that chip is in the rooster, now you know why I was so furious when I got home!!!
and the double sided T towel is sweet too, I ordered more! She has a good eye for pretty ones and only buys good thick towels to crochet on!
oh and your welcome, the box seemed so empty!!!

We've not had that problem yet with ours thank God. We only got rid of the wings and legs from knees down and we left the skin on bc We will make them in 2 ways:either butterfly them and cook on the grill or put them on the rotisserie. Actually the fully feathered wings are curing under salt bc I am a feather painter and therefore my bird feathers are important to me as an artist. I thought I was on the "other" one. Lol. Darn, pls resend me the link and thanks:)
