Poor Gertie. Her eye is very swollen and she has a lump under one wing. Both on the left side. She's seems ok otherwise. Eating, drinking, running around. Vet thinks it could be cancer. It came on very quickly. Not sure how quickly cancer presents itself in chickens. Thoughts? Suggestions?

We've tried an antibiotic - Tylan to no avail.

Are the lumps hard? Was Gertie vaccinated for Mareks disease? Mareks can cause lymphoma tumors all over the body. Sometimes there can be some lameness or paralysis in legs or wings, but tumors can happen at any time. Sometimes respiratory diseases such as MG or coryza can cause facial swelling near the eye. Does she have any sneezing, eye or nasal drainage, or noisy breathing? I think that lymphomas probably can come up rather quickly, but I'm not at all experienced with it.

The lumps are hard. She does not appear to have any respiratory issues or drainage. She was vaccinated for Marek's.

Tumors can be common in chickens. Avian lymphoid leukosis is another disease that causes tumors. I wish I had some suggestions, but maybe your vet would. Please let us know how things are going.

Really at a loss on what to do here. She can still see out of her other eye and seems ok otherwise eating, drinking but the swelling it getting quite large as you can see from the photo. The swelling under her wing seems to have stopped.

I have a hen that had an enormous swelling around her eye, no other symptoms. I found a hard disc of puss across the eye that had completely blocked the tear duct. Once removed we lanced the lump under the eye. That was 4 years ago, she lost sight in that eye , but has had no further health issues.
The lump under the arm may just be a secondary infection, as you are in consultation with a vet anyway, perhaps you could ask him if lancing and allowing it to drain is an option. Chicken puss is very thick , like cheese, so sometimes it's more a case of digging out rather than draining. I would also switch antibiotics. :)
Neosporin or Terramycin may help.
