Found this today, anyone know what happened? The shell is rough and feels fairly fragile.

It feels like an empty vein? Rubbery, just weird! And the top of the egg isn't closed, this is like attached to the membrane of the egg

That's what my Facebook friends said too so I made a video as we opened it LOL! Nothing abnormal inside

Someone mentioned the hen needs calcium? I give them oyster shell and there's oyster shell in their feed, wonder if there's something going on internally? I have noticed that some shells are fairly thin and crack easily, also the yolks break super easy in the skillet when we're trying to do over-easy. Anyone have input?

How old are birds and how long have they been laying?
Not common but not unprecedented, new layers can lay some pretty funky eggs in the first month or so.
Check out this weird egg thread...and post your pic there too.

Exactly what and how are you feeding?
There shouldn't be oyster shell in the feed, might be calcium in there tho.

It is an egg that did not get much shell while inside the hen's body. Often there will not be any shell at all, only a rubbery membrane. I have oyster shells in my chicken coop free choice and I still get an occasional membrane egg, though I don't get as many as I used to before I offered calcium . Not sure what the tail thing is.
