Don't worry, your little crowing hen is still a hen :). My girls love to crow, You could always get a no crow collar if you want her to quiet down.

Hi - new member and 1st post. My reason for joining is to find out more about my golden laced polish chicken. He's definitely a rooster as all the hens in my yard will attest to. I'm trying to find out where I can find 'Elvis' a couple of girlfriends. We got him at Tractor Supply last year and didn't know what we had bought until he matured. Now I'm trying to figure out how to tell if a chick is male or female. The only place I know to get any are at Tractor Supply but we really don't need any more roosters. He's my favorite bird & want him to have some of his own to hang out with.

Hi :welcome

I agree with @ChickenGrass as chicks you can't sex them. They are notoriously difficult to sex untill they 2-3 months and even then they can be pesky and trick you :barnie (I've experienced this)
If you really don't want to run the risk of getting a roo you will have to look for pullets. If you go down the chick route you could cull your boys once they are sexed. I know this is not for everyone but I have found this the best way. Any boys I have get 2 weeks of advertising. If they don't find new homes I cull them. I know they have had a happy, well cared for life with me and the end is quick. They don't end up in unscrupulous hands this way.

I have a few Polish chicks as well. I have read they are hard to sex. Mine is about 5 to 6 weeks. Here is one that decided to fly out of the brooder box. I hope he/she turns out as beautiful as the one above.
