humidity problems?

So exciting. I have 3 chick's that hatched today and more peeping. It's exactly 21 days so on schedule but my humidity is 90%. I have read it should be 75%. The only way to lower it is to take everything out and drain the water . I have a hova bator. Should I be worried. Please advise

Congrats on your hatches! I wouldn't worry to much about the humidity, because as chicks hatch, it naturally goes up. Can you open the lid a bit and let a little of the moist air out? Try it for a few seconds, then do it again if it helps.
 
Ok great. Thank you. I will try that. These baby's are so pretty. They are Austrolope and Rhode Island reds mixed with a white leghorn rooster. They are light black and gold looking. I want the best for them lol
 
I have 15 left. Only 3 are all the way out.There are like 8 with cracks in them but they have had the peep holes since this morning. I how they are ok and taking their time. 1 more is active about to come out

Some people say not to open the incubator at all? I don't get that because the mom I would assume wouldn't sit on the egg while it hatches right?
 
I think the "rule" to not open incubators during lockdown was made when incubators did not hold humidity as well and did not recover temperature and humidity very quickly.

The risk from opening is that it will become too dry inside and cause problems for chicks who've pipped. They could get stuck. But if your humidity is at 90 percent, the risk of it going below 65 is really small.

I know people who open during lockdown all the time, but they know their incubators and how they recover.

It's really up to you.
 
Thank you so much. This is my first hatch and your help is greatly appreciated! I have another question.

My chick's that hatched are running around banging into the other eggs lol Is that ok? All the eggs are bunched up now and the chick's are running into them like bowling balls.
 
They'll be fine if you leave them, but I like to take my babies and empty eggshells out once the chicks have fluffed up and look strong. I don't like to leave them in over 24 hours.

I try to do it when there are no other pips, but then the air is really dry where I live. You are more humid, and if your incubator has high humidity anyways, you would be fine taking the early hatchers out.

If you are not sure, sleep on it and take them out in the morning.
 
I like the sleep on it. It's like a more safe then sorry type of deal lol. I live in south Florida where it's always humid. Tomorrow when I switch the chick's to the brooder I will spread out the other eggs. When should I except that what hatched is what hatched and throw everything else out? By Monday morning or should I wait?
